- Q. What does all risks cover mean?
- A. All risks covers means, subject to terms and conditions, you are covered for fire, theft, malicious and accidental damage.
- Q. Is my stock or money covered?
- A. Your policy excludes cover for stock, money, generators and gas bottles.
- Q. Do I need catering public liability insurance?
- A. Whilst it is not a legal requirement to hold this insurance it is often requested by councils before trading commences. This is to protect the policy holder in the event of a claim by the public as the policy holder would become liable for any costs arising from a claim.
- Q. Can you offer any breakdown cover?
- A. If your towing vehicle breaks down many standard breakdown covers will only recover the vehicle and not the catering trailer. We have linked up with ALPS Road Rescue to provide breakdown cover from as little as £50 per vehicle per year. Cover includes the caravan or trailer attached to the vehicle, up to a maximum of 3.5 tonnes gross weight, and not more than 8.0 meters in length, 3.0 meters in height and 2.3 meters wide.
- Q. What level of Public & Product Liability cover is provided by the Cater Protect Liability policy?
- A. The standard level of cover is £5 Million.
- Q. Is the catering trailer insured whilst being towed?
- A. The catering trailer is insured while in transit e.g. for accidental damage whilst being towed.
- Q. My motor insurance allows me to tow trailers, is this ok?
- A. Many insurance companies allow towing of small box trailers or caravans for Social, Domestic & Pleasure, but NOT for the towing of Catering Trailers for Business use. Please check with your motor insurance company that this is acceptable, as your motor insurance could be invalid if incorrect.
- Q. My motor insurance policy my occupation is listed as "Caterer", is this ok?
- A. If you tow or sell food from a catering trailer your occupation should be listed as Mobile Caterer NOT Caterer. As many insurance companies will insure Caterers but NOT Mobile Caterers, due to the street trading & sales. Please check with your insurance company that your occupation is acceptable.
- Q. Is food poisoning covered?
- A. Food poisoning is covered under your catering public liability policy and is subject to standard policy wording.
- Q. What is the excess on the catering trailer policy?
- A. The standard excess on your catering trailer policy is £250 and is subject to terms and conditions.
- Q. Do I have to pay an extra premium for Employers Liability Insurance?
- A. The Cater Protect policy has the option to exclude Employers Liability, thus allowing a reduced price.
- Q. Can Employers’ Liability be added the policy after inception?
- A. Employers’ Liability can be added at any time, subject to a revised premium.
- Q. Is there a maximum number of employees I can employ?
- A. The policy does not stipulate a maximum number of employees as the premium is based on your annual turnover e.g. £50,000 p.a., £75,000 p.a., £100,000 p.a. etc.
